Lavender songs...seems to have two objectives in mind: recreating the palpable feel of Weimar Republic revues and telling the history of those cocky, dangerous outings. You could say the creators want  to revive the era that the musical CABARET replicated. The difference is that for the Broadway evocation, Fred Ebb and John Kander provided eerily appropriate pastiche, but for LAVENDER SONGS, the selections are authentic. They’re the real, sophisticated thing.
